After Hours

· From the notebook

Picture day is a group project.

A conversation starter about the work behind the photograph.

The photograph gets the frame. The morning that made it possible rarely does. Picture day is a useful little window into the invisible work of family life: remembering, preparing, checking, and keeping things moving.

Today’s white-chocolate coffee moment at OyaJava has us thinking about the story outside the finished picture. Who remembers the date? Who notices what still needs doing? And who gets a moment to themselves when everybody is ready?

Here is a conversation worth taking past the polite answer: which everyday task would you most like someone else to notice without being asked? No competition over who is busiest. Just an honest account of what it takes.

This is a notebook prompt for the podcast in development, not a released episode. Bring your answer to the conversation.
